The fog had lifted and although overcast it wasn't rainy as we set off towards Bordeaux or actually just the other side. We did get a glimpse of the Loire as we crossed over it.
Like most things it would look better in sunshine. Once again we have chosen not to use the motorways. The roads are long and straight and with little to no traffic.
The only sticking point was around Bordeaux the only proper traffic we have experienced so far.
The campsite we had booked for tonight is by a huge lake near the coast. Very obviously a popular holiday destination in the summer with many pleasure boats and restaurants.
Not so much at this time of year.
Once again we have the place to ourselves luckily as the site is mainly grass and it's been tipping it down for the entire day. We have parked on a gravel path as it's the only way we can be assured that we can get out.
The barrier didn't work so once again we had to call the help line. We have been in contact with them every day at least 3 times a day trying to get the glitchy system to work for us!
Managed to get the dog out for a very reluctant toilet break.
It's a massive lake with an airport in the middle fir sea planes. Just the other side of the lake is the Bay of Bisque. If the weather eases up a bit we may walk over tomorrow to have a look.
We are currently booked for 2 nights here but as it's so cheap we could if it continues being unpleasant weather wise move further down the coast to Biarritz if they let us in😳. We are due to be in San Sebastián Sunday afternoon to meet Rae's Spanish teacher on Monday
